The SECOND READING at SUNDAY’S MASS is a reading that is common at many weddings because it speaks about love. However, the love that we hear about in this letter from St Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, is a love that we should be able to apply to all of our relationships.
It tells us that love is always patient and kind – are we patient and kind to our friends and siblings?
It says love is never jealous or boastful – are we happy with what we don’t have and humble about what we do have?
Love is never rude or selfish – do we put ourselves first to get ahead of others?
We read, love does not take offence and is not resentful – do we let ourselves get wound up by others and bear grudges against those who have offended us?
To live and love like this brings great freedom and happiness. We ask God to help live a life of love as we pray: Our Father…
Challenge: Love yourself by forgiving somebody who has offended you – Love does not take offence!
