St Richard of Chichester

On Thursday 16th June, the Church remembers St RICHARD OF CHICHESTER.

He lived from 1197 to 1253 and was the Bishop of Chichester in Sussex. As a bishop he was well loved and lived a simple and humble life. One of his best know writings is this prayer:

Thanks be to Thee, my Lord Jesus Christ, For all the benefits Thou hast given me, For all the pains and insults Thou hast carried for me. O most merciful Redeemer, friend and brother, May I know Thee more clearly, Love Thee more dearly and Follow Thee more nearly, Day by day. Amen

Think: Take a moment to be grateful each day, especially the difficult days – there is always something to thank God for.
