The Patron Saint of Young Christians

The 21st June is the memorial of St ALOYSIUS GONZAGA.

He was born into nobility and raised in Italy with his family constantly at war with other noble families. He began military training at 4 years old when he received his first set of guns! At 12 he read a book about missionary priests in India, and by 17 he decided that he too would become a Jesuit missionary giving up his inheritance. Unfortunately, he died at 23 whilst still studying to become a priest and working with plague victims in Rome in 1591. He is the Patron Saint of Christian Youth so we ask his prayers today for all Catholic youth, especially those in our schools but not in our Churches.

St Aloysius Gonzaga: Pray for us.

Think: Here we remember another Saint who gave up his wealthy lifestyle for God. Could you?
