Sunday was the Solemnity of OUR LORD, JESUS CHRIST KING OF THE UNIVERSE.
This feast continues the theme of the ‘the end’ and is a celebration that looks forward to Jesus returning at the end of time.
The Jubilee of Mercy also came to an end as we make way for Advent and the start of a new church year. We start the liturgical year thinking about when Jesus came the first time, as a helpless baby, born in a stable, and we finish the year thinking about his glorious return to establish his eternal kingdom.
Perhaps we should reflect how we have used the last year. Are we ready for Christ’s return, when we will be called to give an account of how we lived our lives? We ask God to help us to get ready for his return as we pray: Our Father…
Think: Although the Year of Mercy has ended. We must remember that God’s mercy remains forever.
