What is Prayer

Another discipline of Lent is PRAYER.

In Lent we are encouraged to give a little extra time to prayer.  Yet so many of us don’t know how to pray. Prayer is NOT simply saying an Our Father or a Hail Mary. These types of prayer only have any life when the pray-er has a life of prayer.

Real prayer is simply opening our heart and mind to God. This can take a bit of time to become effective, but like in any relationship, the longer we spend together the better we get to know each other and grow in love and understanding of each other. When we pray like this, God is able to reveal His great love for us. And once we have felt this great love, all other types of prayer, including Mass take on new life.

We ask our blessed mother to pray for us, that we might learn true prayer and become more aware of God’s great love for each of us:  Hail Mary…

Pray: Make some time each day to be silent and allow God to love you.
