In the FIRST READING at Sunday’s Mass we have the very famous story of Moses being called by God through a burning bush.
Moses had been through a lot before this; as a baby he was sent down the River Nile in a basket, and raised in the palace by Pharaoh’s daughter, before running away into the desert after killing an Egyptian slave-driver. Moses had settled in the desert and was now a humble shepherd. We also read in the book of Exodus that Moses had a speech-impediment which meant that Aaron had to speak for him. We learn from Moses that God can shape us through all our experiences, and use us for great things no matter what weaknesses we carry.
We ask that God would make us as courageous as Moses was, to respond to his call as we pray: Our Father…
