Terminal Hard-Heartedness

As our excitement ramps up for CHRISTMAS and the end of term, perhaps we should ask ourselves have we prepared well this ADVENT? There have been spiritual preparations as many have attended Advent Masses and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. These preparations begin to open our hearts and lives for an increase of God’s presence. There have also been very practical preparations that have brought an increase of God’s love into the community around us.

Often we are also asked to give to charitable causes. We should first be extremely grateful that we are in a position to be able to give to others – and not just financially able – but able because of the generous condition of our hearts to love others. Many people suffer from hard-heartedness and miss the opportunities and joy of helping others hard-heartedness can lead to a very lonely and sad life.

Let us ask God to increase our capacity to love when we see the suffering of others. We thank God for his goodness and ask him to become an even bigger part of our lives this Christmas as we pray: Our Father…
